• The Art of Living: A New Webinar Series

The Theosophical Order of Service is presenting a new webinar series called The Art of Living.

This free interactive webinar will discuss the topics of conditioning, self-love, active listening, and compassion and how these aspects of ourselves are necessary to observe in order to enhance our own sense of being in the world.

The series started September 2 and will meet again December 4 at 4 pm CST. Recordings of the previous three webinars are available.

Participation is free. To join or for more information please email us at info@theoservice.org.

  • What Does Helping Others Mean to You?

The TOS wants to know “What does helping others mean to you?” Not your definition, but why do you help others? What makes you volunteer? How has it changed your life?

We are hoping to collect videos of people answering these questions. But if you feel shy about being on a video (camera phones are great and easy…hint hint!), we welcome you to send us an audio recording of what helping others means to you. If you send us either a video or audio, please also send us permission to use it as part of our outreach. We are intending to put together various clips as an introduction to the TOS to be used in lodges and study groups.

    We thank you in advance!

  • What Inspires You?

What Inspires You? is a series of four webinars in which the Theosophical Order of Service in America (TOSA) explores what inspires and helps strengthen our practice of service. The format is an inspiring five-minute video screening followed by a short discussion among participants.

Is the Antarctic Treaty a Model to Prevent an Arctic Oil Race?

by Rene Wadlow

In an earlier article Arctic Oil and the Law of the Seize, I mentioned that some such as Scott Borgerson, who teaches maritime studies at the US Coast Guard Academy and is a fellow at the Council on Foreign Relations, are looking to the Antarctic Treaty of 1959 as a model to prevent an Arctic race for oil by avoiding the provisions of the Law of the Sea Convention which the USA has not signed.
