  • The Dangers of Plastic

    Members of the Salt Lake City Theosophical Society displayed the devastating effect of plastic pollution on the oceans, animal life, and humanity at the University of Utah. Members set up a massive display and spent hours talking to community member of all ages. According to one man, the display provided “a profound, realistic picture that forces us to look at our choices, and the consequences of that choice.”

  • Latest Issue of For the Love of Life

    The 2017-2018 winter issue of For the Love of Life is available to read for free online. This edition revolves around ethics. The editorial staff would like to thank its readers for all its support. Physical copies are available by request.

  • For the Love of Life Goes Online

    In an effort to cut down on printing and mailing costs and reduce our carbon footprint, the Theosophical Order of Service is creating an online version of its journal For the Love of Life. If you would like to continue receiving a copy of For the Love of Life in digital form, please send your email address to info@theoservice.org. Hard copies of future issues will no longer be available.

Meet Kristina Iron Cloud

For the last five years, the Theosophical Order of Service has awarded scholarships to six nursing students from the Oglala Lakota College Nursing Program. The college serves the Pine Ridge Reservation which is situated in one of the poorest counties in the US. Many of the students awarded scholarships in the past have driven over 100 miles to be able to attend classes while working a full time job and having to care for a family.  This year's recipient is Kristina Iron Cloud. Earth Day 2017

Have you ever stopped and thought about the fact that everything you use comes from the Earth? 

This Earth Day will be unlike any other since its inception in 1970. Rallies and marches will take place around the world to drawn attention to the need for “evidence-based policy making and inclusivity in the science community.” Started as a conversation on the social media site Reddit, March for Science will bring together scientists, lovers of science, and sympathizers from around the world to raise awareness about the need for science to be taken as it is: a tool that uses objective means to study issues and find solutions to today’s problems, climate change being one of them. The Magic Within

In the movie Nanny McPhee, Emma Thompson plays a rather unattractive, almost scary, looking nanny who comes to care for seven unruly children. When she arrives and finds she is unwelcomed by them (they in fact tell her to leave), she quietly informs them, "When you need me, but do not want me, then I must stay. When you want me, but no longer need me, then I have to go." Using her magical powers, she eventually gets the children to behave. The oldest child, who is the most unruly and stubborn of all, is Simon. His understanding of the lessons he needs to learn come a bit slower because his anger gets in his own way. But eventually he too softens, becoming more congenial and gentle. Read more about The Magic Within
