07 A Reverence on The One Life
May I realize the knowing
life’s spiritual key
is in my hand;
a grip enhanced
by firm conviction
there is light and awe
in the majesty of all.
What greater revelation
that all states of vibration
course
with one life alone!
To feel this connection
that all are alive
from stone to tree,
from animal to man;
and full to the brim
exalt in the vision
that reverence for life
should be universal.
May I realize the knowing: A state of certainty beyond mere supposition or belief. life’s spiritual key: A fundamental, core value with the capacity to infuse every thought, word, and deed that may impact one’s karma and the world. is in my hand: Within one’s grasp of comprehension. a grip enhanced by firm conviction: When a spiritual knowing is realized, conviction in matters related to it is a natural corollary. there is light and awe in the majesty of all: The inspiration engendered by the universe's grandeur and complexity, from the first “light of the one darkness” (SD 1.III.10) that emerged to the vast diversity of living beings and the celestial visions seen through today’s various types of space telescopes. What greater revelation that all states of vibration course with one life alone: A view which holds that everything, organic or inorganic, vibrates with life, and although manifesting in their own special form, all emanate from The One Life. In his notes entitled The Secret Doctrine and its Study, Robert Bowen wrote that HPB emphasized this concept as essential to the Esoteric Philosophy. She taught that one should hold fast to the idea “that there is no dead matter. Every last atom is alive. It cannot be otherwise, since every atom is itself fundamentally Absolute Being.” To feel this connection that all are alive: Panpsychism is the philosophical theory that consciousness, mind, or soul is a fundamental and ubiquitous feature of all physical matter. It posits that even elementary particles possess primitive forms of experience and that consciousness is built upon simpler forms of mental activity present throughout the universe. For example, atoms only interact with certain other types of atoms to form more complex molecules. This is their form of consciousness. from stone to tree, from animal to man: Everything is composed of the same Spirit-Matter, “as Matter is Spirit, and vice versa” (SD 1, p. 179). and full to the brim exalt in the vision: To joyously embrace a more humane perspective as one’s future. that reverence for life should be universal: Compassionately inclusive of all life forms and the entire physical environment.
