We say goodbye to Hutoxy (pronounced Hutsy) Contractor, 79, a stalwart member of the TOS. Hutsy had a B.A. in sociology and anthropology. She and her husband Dinshaw, originally from India, were married in 1958 and continued their ancestral Zoroastrian faith in the United States where they raised five children. Hutsy is survived by her husband, Dinshaw and four children, Rashna, Yasmin, Yazdi and Arnavaz. Sadly, their fifth child, Shernaz died in an accident 1985. [node:read-more:link]

Flood Relief Efforts Underway at Adyar

Historic amounts of rain have produced disastrous flooding in Chennai, India, including flooding at Adyar, international headquarters of the Theosophical Society. While buildings at Adyar sustained comparatively minimal damage, the City of Chennai suffered devastating damage, with more than 50,000 homes destroyed some of them belonging to staff at Adyar who lost everything. We are collecting donations to help with the flood relief efforts. [node:read-more:link]

War and the Soul

In 2005, Quest Books published one of its most profound books, War and the Soul by Edward Tick. While this book centers on the topic of soldiers and soul loss after combat, the message is viable for any population and anyone who has dealt with extreme violence and trauma.
